Crooked Spider's best barrel of 2021 is released separately.
It contains a Glenrothes from 2008 that spent its final years on a Oloroso barrel.
Glenrothes is known as a full, fruity Speyside whisky. Oloroso is a dry sherry whose barrels are often used to finish whisky on, they help make the whisky even more fruity.
This combination makes the whisky out of the barrel a desirable product. The impact of the barrel on the barrel aged stout is immense.
The R.I.B.A.C.S. smelt too intense at the start, so Niels blended some new smoked imperial stout (the rest of which is lagering on different barrels) to balance the beer.
It is an extremely thick R.I.B.A.C.S. that smells of cocoa, tobacco, fruity whisky and a little bit of smoke.
